I have a few questions regarding nullsec ratting;
1. I am ratting in a system as close to true (-1.0) nullsec as I dare without upsetting or alerting the landlords. Are the bounties and potential for officer/faction spawns better the lower you go? How much better? 2. What the hockey puck does an officer/faction spawn look like? Will it replace the last spawn in a belt system? Will it pop on to my overview and cause me to cough and spew my Neiman Marcus cookie all over my keyboard? 3. Is 'chaining' a better approach for systems with less belts? As far as I've read 'chaining' is focusing on the destruction of the battleships to the exclusion of all else ... is that correct? 4. A landed in a belt last night and there were 6 Cruisers or Battlecruisers (my memory is foggy) but the important thing is that all the hulls were of the same class. How do I 'chain' a spawn like that? 5. The drops I've observed so far are mostly meta 3 and meta 4, is this the norm in a -0.65 security or less system?
If you'd be willing to share any other tips or strategies surrounding a successful evening of ratting I'd be much obliged.
well for starters, no system has a negative number for a security rating, so you might want to at least learn how to read that first.
the size of the bounties generally reflect the security rating of the system
faction spawns have a special name, that you don't normally see, dependent on the faction. if you've been killing the same stuff over and over, it'll be pretty obvious. if it's a sansha rat, it's name will have a 'true sansha' prefix, for example. a gurista will be 'dread gurista'
chaining means leaving one rat left over, so that the same spawn composition will repop. if all the rats are destroyed, the respawn will be a different composition of ships. this is to keep battleship spawns in all the belts, because you don't always get them. if it's all BC/cruiser, kill them all and hope for a better spawn the next time. ___________________________ not all who wander are lost. |
